In contrast to the track’s title, Boston-based alt pop/rock trio Shallow Pools stay high above water with their new single “Sinking”. The latter focus on the daily struggles that come with general anxiety.
Their sound continues to expand on influences of both pop rock and alternative, while maintaining meaningful (and painstakingly relatable) lyrics. “Sinking” kicks off with a pulsing guitar riff, demonstrating the band’s clear alternative inspirations, but quickly mellows out throughout the verses, eerily replicating the emotional rollercoaster experienced in anxiety. It’s clear that shallow pools knows what they’re advocating, but especially seeing as the band strives to promote inclusivity in their art, the trio are undeniably authentic in their lyricism and instrumentation. Recorded at Reclaim Studios, the trio hopes to continue promoting their brand of inclusion through their 5-track EP later this fall. About the release of “Sinking”, the band states:
““Sinking” is about the struggles of dealing with anxiety and the challenges it brings on a daily basis. The song explores the fear of opening up to others and asking for help.”
