Pistols At Dawn discuss new single and upcoming plans!

Hello Pistols at Dawn, thanks for your time. How have you been doing over the past few months? We’re grateful for the interview! The past few months and even the past year throughout the pandemic have been fortunately incredible for Pistols At Dawn. We have put out 6 new videos over the past year and have recently released our new EP “Nocturnal Youth”. We are marketing Nocturnal Youth all over the world and looking forward to playing some shows this fall. We are also currently working on our next full-length album and should have that wrapped up in the fall. You have recently revealed your new single, titled “Voices”. What's the story behind this song? Voices' is a song about trying to quiet the voices in one’s head and the voices around us,” explains vocalist Adam Jaffe. “We live in a world where everyone has a voice and it can be hard to find the real truth. It's about focusing on self-reflection and drawing a line in the sand to weed out all the nonsense. The video for the song is all about intimacy. It’s meant to bring the listener up close so they can see and feel our emotion and expression as we expel the voices through our playing. Connection is everything to us, and we want our listeners to see and feel what we feel. Raw emotion and passion—that’s how we connect.” It was released along with a music video. Would you mind describing the shooting experience? Any funny stories to share with our readers? The shooting experience was really unique. We decided to make it as intimate as possible in a very confined small stage with low ceilings, and we brought in a thousand candles and a ton of smoke. The candles were brought in to make the feeling of the video extremely intimate. And what really made it unique was that it was such a heavy song in such an intimate environment. We wanted to bring the viewer as close as possible to us in the video since they couldn’t see us live at that moment during the pandemic. It’s a really powerful song and the mood was perfect for what we attempted to accomplish in bringing people close without actually having to be there. You are currently working on your new album. Can you tell us a few words about your writing process? We are currently eight tracks into our new full-length album. We are planning to complete the writing process by the end of June. We will go into the studio the second weekend in July to track. We have a very simple but effective writing process. The 4 musicians spend a few months putting the music together and then once completed we send it to our frontman Chris, who adds melodies, harmonies and lyrics. I’m sure you are, like a lot of people, missing live shows. Do you already have some dates planned for 2021 / 2022? Yes, we are so excited to get back out playing and have missed being on a stage playing live. We recently announced a four-show series to thank our supporters for their dedication through the pandemic and to basically say farewell to Covid. We’re giving them a free series of shows in at least 4 different cities in the United States as a big thank you and to celebrate making it through the insanity. Our first show of that series will be in Atlanta on 9/18/
21. We have also signed on for a food bank benefit with Atlanta’s main rock station and will be performing 11/13/21. We are currently working on additional shows and touring for the new year. To finish, what is one lesson you’ve learned that you think is important to pass onto other bands? If there’s any lesson we’ve learned over the last year it is that you never stop giving your supporters more content. The world basically came to a standstill and many bands closed up shop, which we respect. We, on the other hand, saw the pandemic as a time to really be there for our supporters, and they were there for us. If there’s anything we’ve learned, it’s that music is so important in our lives and giving people new music during this incredibly hard time was really beneficial and cathartic for both our supporters and us. In essence, our advice to the younger generation of musicians is: be there for your supporters through thick and thin, and they will be there for you. Thanks for your time!
