Metallers Anochecer talk about their latest EP release, “Dicotomía”!
Hello, Anochecer! Thanks for your time! Would you mind introducing your band to our readers? Hello to all! We are Anochecer, a Blackened Post Metal band from Mexico with influences of various genres. Like Blackgaze, Melodic Black Metal, Doom Metal and Post Rock. How would you describe the Mexican metal scene overall? Its big and growing everyday more. We have many great bands in all metal genres and some of them already have an international presence, especially in Japan and Europe. Definitely, the most popular metal genres in Mexico are Heavy and Trash Metal. But in the last years, it has been growing, as the scene is giving more space to other genres like Post Black Metal, Melodic Metal, Metalcore and more. You release, back in December 2018, an EP titled “Dicotomía”. Can you tell us more about this EP? Yes, this new EP reflects the evolution of the band. As well as the influence of the new members giving a heavier, melodic and dark sound to the band. For those who have not heard it yet, what kind of songs can we expect on this release? The listener can find a mixture of dark, bright and melodic songs with Rock and Metal influences. So it is important not to have first impressions of the album until the last song has been heard. What about the recording process? Any funny story to share from your recording sessions? Yes, in fact, while we were recording in the studio (Spit Studio), our bass player did not have time to prepare his bass because of his job. And he used a bass in very poor conditions and we started calling it “The Garbass” like “Garbage” (laughs). But thanks to our producer, he achieved to get a good sound from that bass. Can we talk about the artwork of “Dicotomía”? It’s quite cool. Who designed it? Our friend Julian Montes designed the artwork. He understand perfectly our vision and the meaning of the title of the EP, which is like a duality.
