Lewis talks about his brand new album, “Inside”

Hello Lewis, thanks for your time. Would it be please possible to introduce your music project to our readers? Hello, thank you for this interview! With my band "Tense of fools", we do compose in common, each one brings something. It can be an idea, an atmosphere, a word, a riff and then we try to put in common, we want the sense of a true aesthetic group and it’s super interesting! On the other hand, this process takes time and that's where "Inside", my solo project makes sense. I had some stuff to release after a difficult period in my life and I felt the fundamental need to put it to music. So, I proposed the songs to the band and they followed me, they helped me in my creative process to be able to put things in place in a given time. So, it was a different way of working as a band, I think it also allowed each member to express his own identity in the songs! Your album “Inside” was recently released. How long have you worked on it? I would say it took me approximately 9 months. The whole process included (composition, demos, recording, mixing, mastering) to finish Inside. It was quite an adventure, very intense and enormously rewarding! You've collaborated with a lot of guests on this record. How did the various collaborations go? First of all, those are the “Tense of Fools” who accompanied me musically on this album. I offered them the project, they accepted and I am really grateful to them! In addition to the Fools, there is Sébastien Caviggia the sound engineer who worked a lot on this album and recorded all the drums as well as other instrumental parts. On vocals we have Anais Clément, Christopher Dubois. Romain Redon came to play flute. Julien Pignol plays trombone. Loick Aymerick came to play the cello and also some back vocals. If you had to pick one song that, according to you, best reflects the spirit of your album. Which one would you pick and why? It's hard to say but I think I'll choose: "Time Money and Fear". It's one of the first songs I composed and from that moment on I knew I was going to make an album. I also think that the two distinct parts corresponds to the path of the album. Between shadow and light, from melancholy to joy, passing and going through hardships. You've also revealed, back in December, a music video for “Inside the Day”. How was the shooting experience? The shooting experience was a great experience! Antoine Dalibard is first of all a photographer, “Inside the Day” was his first video clip. I love the eye of Antoine on his subjects. Thus, this clip maintains an aesthetic close to the pure photographic method. Through the luminous symbols and the glance staring at the lens, the director questions the interiority of each one, his position in time, space, emptiness and life. That's how the clip was thought, an intimate universe to dive into the depth of the characters. Black and white as contrasting the shadow of light and the integration of color as a sensitive hope. I am really happy to live this first experience with Antoine! I’m sure you are, like a lot of people, missing live shows. Do you already have some dates planned for 2021? Unfortunately, I have no shows arriving but I beg please: “as soon as possible”! We are not sure of everything due to the context, but we continue to work and be ready when it will be possible. In general, is there a merch item that you attach particular importance to? If yes, which one? I’m not really attached to particular merch, but I always like to buy a T-shirt of my favorite band! Hum, I also love socks too! The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! Thanks for your great questions. In “Inside”, I tried to share my experience in music. I would like to thank all those who, from near or far, have been here and made it possible. Something is sure, it was made with sincerity, so if you like existential questions, mixes and madness: Buy "Inside".
