Beneath the Surface is a Metalcore, melodic hardcore band from Guipúzcoa, Basque Country. The band consists of Iker (Vocals), Jon (Guitar), Aritz (Bass), Iban (Drums) and Pablo (Guitar).
Beneath the Surface released, back in November, a music video for single 'Tonight (As We're Falling)'. It features Sasu, vocalist in the band Meltdown, and will be included in their debut EP "Constrasts" (2017). The guys were nice enough to take a few minutes to introduce the story behind this single:
“We could say that Tonight is a before, whilst and after in the life of our Singer. Focusing on the music, it represents the esence of our EP, “Contrasts”. We were searching that soft atmospheric sounds with a strong and sad voice for triggering in overwhelming and heavy parts. The first idea of this song was to translate the feelings of our singer in a really hard period of his life. He was indeed moving to a new city for some months, feeling so homesick.Musically, the first part is soft, as we said before, with clean chords and a simple but quite strong drum line, ending in a strong and powerfull chorus, only with screamed vocals. Here we mention the wind, the silence of the words and the night, symbolizing the loneliness. The first part is repeated later, changing some words and trying to represent that whilst of the experience."Hands of the clock, pointing to myself” is what aims to translate the reality of “I'm here, alone, let's go, face this”. After, the chorus goes melodic, giving some hope and optimism, like a lighthouse. The next part is a boast of motivation to face life (“It's my time”). In his last repeatition our guitar player, Pablo included his vocals, bringing along that unity alike feeling, before a strong breakdown who finishes culminating that unchained energy. The ending of the song features Sasu, from our friend band Meltdown. We indeed told him the idea of the song, giving freedom to express himself. He did a terrific work writting and singing about the “after” in a incredible way. In fact, we think that he closes the circle in a perfect way. It has been wonderfull to collaborate with him.“, reveals the band.
