Belvedere discuss forthcoming sixth LP!

Band picture: Chris Wedman Photography Hello Belvedere, thanks for your time. Would it be please possible to introduce your band to our readers? Hey all, I’m Steve and I started the band in 1995. I sing and play rhythm guitar. Casey plays Drums and sings, Dan plays guitar and Ryan plays bass. We’ve been rocking for 26 years and have toured in many places around the world. We’re about to release our 6th album. With a worldwide pandemic going on, how have you handled the management of your band over the past few months? Well, we had 100 shows in 2020 that unfortunately were cancelled, so we decided it’s best to write a new record. A little ‘silver lining’ to a shitty year! You've recently dropped your new single, titled “Camera Obscura”. What's the story behind this song and where did you find your overall inspiration for this track? Camera Obscura is a story that envisions the end of your life and all the mixed feelings that you could potentially feel right before the final moment. Did I do enough? Was I good enough for the people around me? Did I make an impact on the world or did I just simply draw from it. &feature=emb_title This song is taken from your forthcoming sixth LP. How long have you worked on it and what kind of songs can we expect on this record? It took about 9 months to write the album and everyone chipped into the writing process. What can you expect? Lots of Belvedere. I think the first 3 songs released will give you a good idea of what to expect. You can find these songs on any streaming platform. Fast, lots of shreddy guitars, fun harmonies. Any funny stories to share from your recording or writing sessions? Just that we had to do our parts completely separate due to covid restrictions. Ryan lives in Toronto and we had to cancel his trip because of restrictions 2 days before he came to Calgary. So, he did his bass parts through DI from his apartment in Toronto! Can we talk about the process of creating the artwork of your LP and the overall idea behind this visual? Heather McLean did an excellent job on this. We gave her the title and some lyrics and a small direction. She then came up with what you see. The idea is that you can’t always see the right path when you’re in the moment but of course in Hindsight is always much more clear.

I’m sure you are, like a lot of people, missing live shows. Do you already have some dates planned for 2021? Well, we’ve re-booked some tours 3 or 4 times now. We’re hoping to start at the end of 2021 but think most of this will be made up in 2022. It’s frustrating but of course all you can do is wait and hope. The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! Thanks to our friends and fans for the support and the good vibes on the new tunes. We hope you’ll enjoy the album - out on May 14th on Lockjaw Records and Thousand Islands Records. Thanks for your time!
