The birth of Sun Speaker occurred in early February of 2017 when guitarist Tyler Allen sent a rough pre-production track to vocalist Randy Abbott. Both had been in a band prior together and subsequently had left, but the two stayed in touch. Tyler, discontent with the stagnation that had crept into todays extreme music, decided to put together material of what he felt was so drastically missing. Once he had a full song worked out in pre-production he approached Randy to see if he had any interest in putting his newly found vocal talents to use. Randy quickly obliged and so began the journey of Sun Speaker. The two agreed that Sun Speaker was to be an online project as to not take any of the fun out of what they were doing. The two pieced together the rest of the track and decided that a drummer a second guitarist, and bassist were needed.
As fate would have it, Tyler’s childhood friend and now guitar counterpart, Ryan, would join the fold when a snap decision to move to Arizona was made. The addition of Gabe Santillan was merely happenstance. Tyler attended a reunion show for Darkness Before Dawn and watched Gabe perform. After witnessing his ability, Sun Speaker made the offer to Gabe to join Sun Speaker. With Gabe and Ryan in the mix and everyone in the same state, the writing began, and it was incredibly clear that Sun Speaker was no more an online project, but a fledgling band.
