Nearly 20 years later, Shrill releases its album...
Composed and mostly recorded at the time, it was unfinished until today.
During high school in 1999, we started playing together in an attic in
Arradon, western France.
The main musical influences of the band ranged from classic and
alternative rock to heavy metal, we liked the sounds of bands such as
Metallica, The Smashing Pumpkins, Megadeth, Placebo...
Heavy guitars, strong bass and powerful drums to make heads bang!
We were rehearsing several times a week and playing small concerts in
the area.
Soon we wanted to distribute our music but our recording possibilities
were limited.
We managed to self-produce 3 tracks, released on the eve of 2000 (burned
CDs with home-printed b&w covers).
Professional life for some and studies for others got us away from
rehearsals, recordings and eventually from the band.
But (many) years later the bitter taste of unfinishedness still lingered...
We recorded what was missing, re-recorded what needed to be, mixed and
mastered our tracks.
Some precious technical advices and a release date later, here we are.
I wonder how many bands have similar stories.
There must be many hidden musical gems laying around.
I don't know if what we came up with is valuable or not but it's here,
now, and it was worth it.
